Bonfire Night

with mulled wine, soup, sausage rolls, brownies and various  other lovely things.

Cakes in the window

What we love to see… if only we had more time!

Tea at my sister’s house…

Chef Xhoni makes a few cakes

The Fiesta in Pettaugh

A small but lively event in a small but lively village – with really good cakes (especially the gingerbread) and hot chocolate or tomato and basil soup to sip while we watched the cheesiest outdoor cinema I have ever tasted.

Needham tea room

Such a quaint little tea rooom of the kind you think have long gone. Full of teapots on display and a reasonable menu of snacks and main meals. I had a cheese and ham toastie which was two slices of toast full of nice home cooked ham. They have a couple of nice foodie shops here in Needham, a good butchers and one of the best charity shops ever.

Wyken Farmers market – new friends and older ones too

The day has finally come when my first free sample as a result of writing about food has arrived – HOORAY ! Bring on the presents/bribes/samples. So off to Wyken to get my macaroons and take a few pictures of the other stall holders while I’m there. And we liked the salted caramel ones best Min!

Whoopie Pies and Macaroons…

… have arrived in Suffolk. The Whoopie Pies are on the cover of the Sainsbury’s magazine and for sale in M&S. The only ones I’ve eaten so far were my sister’s who had made them weeks ago – being a keen food trend spotter.  But my real new favourites are Macaroons – those French ones in all colours  – on sale at Wyken Farmers Market -  which means they are expensive, but probably worth it? Have a look at www.delicedeparis.co.uk

…and back to the Wyverstone community cafe on Saturday

A second visit here to buy cakes that I ended up giving to other people. It was closing time so got two chocolate banana muffins, a piece of carrot cake (not for me - I don’t like it much) and a piece of coffee and walnut. These cakes are the BEST for miles around but remember it’s only every other week.

Crow Hall somewhere near Pettaugh

At Crows Hall Country ‘Fayre’ we queued for quite a long time to get these and a cup of tea from the WI stall. The fruit bread was the best, with what looks like a bit of a dry Maid of Honour coming close second.
